#1 Braun SE7681 Silk-epil 7 Wet and Dry

Braun SE7681 Silk-épil 7 Wet and Dry EpilatorThis is the best epilator that you can buy, period. However, the price might put many people off with it being over $100.

I can reassure you that it is well worth this price. Many customers have purchased a cheaper model first and then come in for this one, with many epilator reviews revealing that they wish they had just bought this one in the first place.

This is not the most popular epilator because of the price, however it is still incredibly popular with over 1,400 reviews on Amazon.com.

This is the most complete epilator that you will ever come across, it even has an attachment that turns it into a shaver.

In total you get 4 attachments, they make it perfect for use all over your body. You can use it on your face, neck, back, legs and even on your private area. It is the best epilator for face that’s for sure.

The epilator has two speeds and even has a rather handy light attached so that you do not miss any stray hairs.

This is the best epilator, can you afford it? Or should I say say, can you afford not to buy it? The many epilator reviews reveal just how good it is.

Complete with shaver it is pretty cheap actually, you will not be disappointed with it’s performance that’s for sure.

Latest customer epilator reviews:

  1. This is by far the best all over body epilator, it works great on my face, I was looking for ways to remove hair on a womens face and came across this. I am in my 60s and have been surprised with how good the results are. Many reviews talk about how painful it is, I can tell you now that it’s not that painful at all. It leaves my face so smooth and silky to touch, I feel a lot younger again. Worked wonders on my neck, jawline and upper lip, I highly recommend this epilator.
  2. I have the Braun Silk-epil 5 and absolutely love it, however I wanted one that I could also use in the bath and shower, so I purchased the Braun Silk-epil 7. It is far superior to the 5, it is easy to keep clean and very simple to use too. It is still going strong after 2 years use, I use it every other day in the shower, don’t think, just buy one, it is the best.
  3. I had a the cheap Emjoi epilator but it let me down in a few areas, so I thought I would buy this more expensive one after reading all the good reviews. I am so glad that I did, I can tell you now, it is most definitely worth the price, it is loaded with attachments and is a great little investment, do not waste your money on a cheaper model. The little massage balls on one of the attachments actually make it less painful, the light is rather useful too, helps me find and remove the smallest of hairs with ease.
  4. I have had this epilator over 2 years now and it is still working well, I have had no issues with it at all. It charges really quickly, however it is a bit of a problem that it will not work when plugged in. This epilator will only work wireless, it’s good that it does not require batteries. It does hurt when you first use it, you do get used to it though. I use the Braun how to epilate guide, which reduces the pain when using body lotion. I read many epilator reviews before I purchased this one, I made the right choice.
  5. I have had this epilator for well over 3 years now and it is still working strong. I have had other branded epilators in the past, none of which have left me feeling as smooth as this one does. The razor that comes with it is very good too, which makes it well worth the money.

#2 Philips HP6401 Satinelle Epilator

Philips HP6401 Satinelle Epilator, White/GrayIf you are looking for an easy to use and ridiculously cheap epilator, this is the one for you.

It is under $30 and is actually pretty good for the price. You do not get all the attachments that the Braun Silk-epil 7 has, but it does work at two speeds.

It also has an efficiency cap which narrows the epilating area, this is for use on your sensitive areas, if you know what I mean.

It’s small and easy to hold and the head is removable to ensure easy cleaning. You just remove the head, hold under running water, and the cleaning is complete.

Many say that the cheap ones are a waste of money in the long term because they do not last very long, this one is a little different, in most cases it holds up very well over a few years.

I suppose it has been made for people that are new to epilating and are unsure if they will be able to do it or not. So I suppose there is no point in spending a lot of money on an epilator if you are not going to use it again after one go.

You can even use this cheap epilator on your bikini line, it’s pretty good at removing under arm hair too.

Of course you do not get a lot in the box, and what more could you ask for at such a cheap price. You simply get the epilator and the efficiency cap.

Pros:

  • Very cheap to buy
  • Lightweight
  • Not that painful, but does not pull out thick hair
  • Simple and easy to use
  • Quick considering it has minimal tweezers
  • Hairs grow back much slower than with shaving

Cons:

  • Not good on thick coarse hair (will not suit African women)
  • Doesn’t get all the hair
  • Need to trim with a razor first for best results
  • Only lasts about 1 to 2 years
  • Is a bit noisy
  • Only works when plugged in

Latest customer epilator reviews:

  1. The first time I used this epilator it was rather painful, however it hurts less when you use it more often. Using this I have not had any irritation or rashes like I got with shaving and waxing. My legs and armpit hairs grow back much slower, I only have to epilate once every two weeks. As this was my first go at epilating I did not want to spend a lot on one, I am so pleased with my purchase. I read all the epilator reviews before purchase, I knew that this was the right one for me.
  2. This is a really good epilator, however it only lasted one year and it broke. The other major draw back is that it is rather loud, but for the cheap price I can’t complain. No nicks or cuts like I got with shaving, no more having to pay for expensive waxing sessions, I love it.
  3. Being really small it is very easy to handle and move over your body, it even works pretty good on my pubic hair, although it is rather painful. I have not used another brand, this was the only one that I could afford at the time of purchase. You do have to go over the same area quite a few times if you have thick hair, which is what I have.
  4. Took me about 30 minutes to epilate both my legs, hurt like hell at first, I am just telling you that now. The results are amazing, I did not expect it to be this good at such a cheap price. I read all the Philips epilator reviews first to make sure that this was the right choice, it certainly was for me.
  5. Mine started to die after one year of light use, then it totally dies a few months after that. Well it comes on when I tilt it at a certain angle. For the price it is pretty good, it’s a good throw away epilator.

Top 5 most asked questions:

Q: Does it work on different voltage?

A: Yes it certainly does. It works on 110 to 240 volts.

Q: Can you use this epilator on your face?

A: Yes it can, people use it on their face all the time without any problems, it even works great on sensitive skin.

Q: Does the charging cable come with the epilator?

A: Yes it does, this epilator only works when plugged in. The cord is attached to the epilator.

Q: Can it be used in the shower?

A: Absolutely not, this is not a wet and dry epilator.

Q: Does this have a light built into it?

A: This does not have a light built into the unit, you are going to have to pay a bit more money for one with this feature.

Final Rating: Is it worth buying?

It is certainly worth purchasing as it is such a cheap price. This would suit people that are new to epilating and are looking to experience what it is like.

If you are looking for an all singing all dancing epilator then this is not it. People looking for an easy to use, basic epilator will be best suited to this one.

If you want a quiet epilator then stay away from this one, you will not like it one bit. It is pretty poor on thick hair too.

#3 Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 71 Tweezer Head Epilator

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head EpilatorWe have seen an expensive epilator, a very cheap epilator, now we have one priced in between the two.

We have more Emjoi epilator reviews on site. We have reviewed each and every Emjoi model, take a look.

The Philips cheap epilator featured above is the most popular by a long way, simply because it is just so incredibly cheap to buy. However this does not mean that it is the best.

The Emjoi is as popular as the expensive Braun Silk-epil 7. So which one is the best? Which one should you buy?

This one has 72 tweezer heads, that’s a lot more than the other two, so it will work a lot quicker.

It’s main selling point is it’s unique duel heads. Take a look at the picture, you have two heads twee-zing away at the same time.

The duel heads is a feature that you will not find on any other epilator in the world, its main focus was developed to stop in grown hairs.

This epilator can be used all over the body including your face, chin, neck, upper lip, legs, under arms and the most sensitive area, your bikini line.

This epilator comes with the wire, which is connected to it. The epilator only works when plugged in, it is not wireless. It has two speeds too, just like the other two epilators featured on this page.

Pros:

  • Well worth the money
  • 72 tweezers mean less repetitions
  • Hair grows back finer and does not grow back as fast
  • Fastest epilator that you can buy
  • Has a cord, does not need replacement batteries
  • Really smooth results

Cons:

  • Not very powerful
  • Not wireless
  • Does not have massage attachment like Braun Silk-epil 7
  • Not waterproof, can’t be used in the shower

Latest customer epilator reviews:

  1. I have been using an epilator for hair removal for well over 20 years, this is my latest epilator and is one of the most efficient that I have ever had. I have used the Braun before, granted it is definitely better, but I did not want to pay that much money again. The Emjoi is not waterproof or does not have a massager or a light like the Braun, which are not essential features for me, this is why I did not go for a Braun again. The Emjoi certainly gets the job done a bit faster than the Braun.
  2. I am now onto my fourth epilator, this one is by far the best that I have ever used. This epilator does not hurt as much as the others that I have used, must be something to do with the amount of tweezers that it has. This is well worth the price, I will definitely buy another one of these. The Emjoi epilator reviews are impressive, it is a must buy.
  3. Got this for my first epilator, it hurts a little, but it’s not that bad. The cord is a really good length, this makes it easier to manoeuvre around my body. This one does not pinch or even have any negative effects on my sensitive skin.
  4. I had a Philips HP6401 before this one, which packed up working after just over a year. Decided to pay a little more, and buy is this epilator a lot better. This epilator is very fast indeed and is a lot less painful.
  5. I had this epilator, it broke after 6 months, it was my fault because I did not clean the hair out properly. Anyway, I purchased the more expensive Braun Silk-epil 7 and it is so much better, I love all the extra attachments, the massage balls make the pain so much more bearable.

Top 5 most asked questions:

Q: How long is the power cord?

A: It is about 6 Foot long.

Q: Does it work at a different voltage?

A: It works at 110 volts. You need to buy an adaptor for anything more. It is not duel voltage.

Q: Does it come with a travel case?

A: No, but it does come with a canvas draw string bag.

Q: Can it be used in the shower or bath tub?

A: No, this is for dry use only.

Q: Is this good on coarse thick hair?

A: This is a great epilator for use on coarse thick hair.

Final Rating: Is it worth buying?

This is the fastest epilator that you can buy. If you can’t stand the pain and want to get the job done as fast as possible then this is the epilator for you.

However, it is a lot more expensive than the Philips HP6401, and does not have the amount of attachments that the Braun Silk-epil 7 has, even though it is cheaper than the Braun.

Having the more tweezers than any other epilator it is one of the best on thick coarse hair.

How durable is the tool? Is the whole thing made out of plastic or is it some silicon thing, I drop stuff often 🙁 hence I need resistant tools lol.

    • Nicki

Hi Whitney, the Braun 7 is a very robust epilator and will take a few falls for sure. It is made from plastic, however it is very strong and will certainly last you a very long time even if you are prone to dropping things.

That’s idea behind an epilator, they make hair removal all over the body so much easier. It takes a little time to get used to it, but when you get into the swing of it you will never look back.

Emojoy seems a bit rough, does it pinch much? Like it looks like it’s gonna bite you.

    • Nicki

The Emjoi will not pinch you if you use it at the correct angle and do not push it hard against the skin when operating. We recommend the Braun 7 because it has a highly efficient pivoting head which ensures you always get the perfect epilating angle to ensure it does not bite you at all.

Yeah the Philips is the smallest epilator featured in our reviews, it does make a great epilator for travel that’s for sure.

I trust philips more than braun but both products seem to be of high quality and at a really good price. Might test them out .

    • Nicki

Both are pretty good epilators, we have tested them out and the Braun comes out on top by a long way. We recommend buying the Braun 7 or 9.

  • Dianaswan

Which one is the best on thick hair? I can see that the tiny philips one is out for that.

    • Nicki

Yeah the Philips would not be the best for use on thick hair, go for the Braun or Emjoi. It all comes down to how much you have to spend depending on which one you choose to buy.

Which one does the job the fastest tho?

    • Nicki

The Emjoi Ap-18 is the fastest out of all these epilators, it has the most tweezers. It has a whopping 72 tweezers in fact, the Braun 7 only has 40.

Can I use all 3 for my facial hair? I mean they all seem fit for it but not so sure.

    • Nicki

All three of these epilator can be used on facial hair yes. The Philips one is the cheapest and will not give the best results on the face. If you want a best all over body epilator go for the Braun Silk-epil 7 or 9, it comes with attachments making it perfect for use anywhere on your face.

  • Kenziy

The Braun Silk-epil 7 is way out of your price range then. The Emjoi is too expensive for you too. The Philips HP6401 is under budget, it has great reviews too, go far that model 🙂

Our tests prove that the Braun Silk-epil 7 is the best, not the cheapest however, but well worth the money. Thanks for confirming that for us Lea 🙂

  • Nicki

No problem Betsey, our tests did reveal that the Braun 7 is far superior to other epilators on the market today. It is a bit more expensive, but the price is well justified providing loads of attachments for use all over your body.

  • Nicki

Yep the Braun 7 and the latest model the 9 are the best by a long way….they have so many more features than the other brands, it is a bit more expensive but worth it.

I would not bother to upgrade until your Braun 7 stops working, no point, they are very similar and not much better with the Braun 9.

I love the Braun Silk-epil 7, you are right to rate this the number one epilator on the market. Just wandering whether to upgrade to the latest model, the Braun Silk-epil 9?
