Let’s find out how these specs make an epilator worth having;
Pivoting head: this is the most essential feature that an epilator must have. An epilator must operate at the correct angle to remove hairs efficiently. This will ensure hairs are pulled and not cut, it will ultimately prevent in grown hairs.
Tweezers: The more tweezers you have the less you are going to have to pass over the same spot. We have a base mark of 30 tweezers, anything more than this will be very fast indeed.
Efficiency Cap: If an epilator has an efficiency cap it will make the whole hair removal process a whole lot less painful. It will be a lot more comfortable epilating sensitive areas like your face and bikini area.
Light: It can be quite frustrating trying to find those last hairs, a built in light helps a lot with this. You might not think this as an essential feature, but it is. Don’t be the one fiddling with a desk lamp wishing you had bought one with a light built into it.
Massager: Epilating is known to be quite painful, more so on your first few goes. You are much more likely to carry on if your epilator has a built in massager. A massager will soothe your skin as you go and most importantly easy the pain away and leave your skin less red and irritated.
Wet & Dry: Trust me, do not look over this feature. A wet and dry epilator will help you so much, it means that you can use the epilator in the bath or shower. Warm water will soothe your skin, open up your pours, which will obviously help with removing those hairs. It will make it a lot less painful for sure.
Motor Speed: Many come with just one speed, a good epilator will have a slow and fast speed option. Switching to a slow speed will help on sensitive areas like your under arms and bikini area. When the epilator is in slow mode it will be much more gentle on the skin. This is a must have feature for people with sensitive skin.
Cordless: This is not essential, but being cordless will help manoeuvrability. If you are doing your under arms, face or your bikini line you do not want a cord getting in the way all the time. One advantage to a corded epilator would be not having to charge it up all the time. A good cordless epilator will charge quickly in an hour or less anyway and will be able to run for 40 to 60 minutes on a full charge. Be aware that it can take around 30 to 40 minutes to epilate both your legs.
Soft Lift Tips: This is essential to stop ingrown hairs and to prevent any missed hairs. The tips will lift up flat lying hairs to ensure they get pulled and not cut.
For best results always pull your skin taught and hold the epilator lightly against your skin. Do not push the epilator hard against the skin.
