Preventing Ingrown Hairs

Preventing Ingrown Hairs is very easy to doPreventing ingrown hairs is a very easy process. I am going to tell you how to do this right now.

To prevent ingrown hairs you need to know what they are, then you can stop this from happening to you.

An ingrown hair happens when the hairs curls round and grows back under the skin. It can be quite painful, it will also leave a little red spot on the skin.

The hair can be caused to curl by dead skin cells, so removing those dead skin cells with exfoliation will help prevent them from forming.

If you have curly hair then it is most likely to happen to you, so you need to know how to stop this from happening.

It stands to reason that the hair becomes ingrown because it is not growing straight upwards away from the skin. The hair is growing back down towards the skin.

So to stop an ingrown hair we need to straighten the hair up, re-direct the way the hair is growing so that it is away from the skin.

An ingrown hair can cause an infection, and even leave the skin with a nasty red bump full of puss. So this matter is quite serious actually.

I have done this post on an epilator site because it is most likely that an ingrown hair can occur from epilating or waxing.

I should point out that if you buy the best epilator available it is unlikely that you suffer ingrown hairs at all.

The best thing about epilating for a lengthly time is that the hair grows back finer and much weaker, in that it is less likely that you will get ingrown hairs anymore.

Removing and Preventing Ingrown Hairs

Different pictures of ingrown hairs and what they may look likeFirst of all you need to know how to prevent ingrown hairs. Then we will discuss how to get rid of them if you already have them in place on your skin.

How to prevent ingrown hairs;

  • Re-direct hair growth by exfoliation. Rub your body with a cloth, exfoliating glove or loofah.
  • Wet your skin with warm water on a daily basis to open up your pours.
  • Do not wear tight skinny jeans or tops too often. Your tight clothes will curl up your hairs and re-direct their growth back towards your skin.
  • Cleansing on a regular basis will also change the direction of the hairs and prevent them from becoming an ingrown hair.
  • Moisturising after cleansing and exfoliation will keep your skin healthy and prevent those dead skin cells from forming, which can then lead to ingrown hairs.
  • It is important to keep your skin hydrated on the outside by moisturising, but also on the inside, by drinking your recommended daily amount of water.
  • Prevention is best accomplished by keeping the pours open, to keep the hair growing outwards in the right direction. Any animal products or petrolium jelly can stick up your pours and cause ingrown hairs.

How to remove ingrown hairs;

So you have an ingrown hair. Be sure not to itch or scratch and rub the area, this is a sure fire way to get the area infected.

  • Get yourself a face cloth and pop it into warm water.
  • Now pop the cloth against the hairs for a few minutes to open up your pours.
  • Use a sterile pair or tweezers or needle to dislodge the hair from underneath your skin. Remove the hair in the direction that it naturally grows in.
  • If you remove the hair against the direction of natural growth the hair is likely to snap, which could lead to further problems. You will have to wait for the hair to grow a little more before you can try again.
  • After the hair is removed you need to soothe the area with a damp cloth. Work the cloth lightly against the skin in a circular movement. You can them apply a moisturising cream if you want to, this will keep the skin hydrated.

Side Effects of Using an Epilator

All the side effects of using an epilator

All the side effects of using an epilatorSo are there any side effects of using an epilator?

First of all we need to take a look at what is an epilator and how it works.

An epilator is an electric device containing many tweezers. The tweezers pull the hair from the root of your skin, as oppose to a shaver, which cuts the hairs from the skin.

To get the perfect epilator for yourself to use take a look at our epilator reviews section. We analyse every brand that is worth taking a look at.

As you know, when you use tweezers to pluck your eye brows it does hurt. Well in most cases an epilator will have around 40 tweezers all pulling hairs out at the same time from your skin. One epilator on the market has a whopping 72 tweezers, you can take a look at it in our Emjoi epilator reviews department.

All those tweezers pulling hairs from the root is going to have some side effects on your skin.

Are epilators safe? Of course they are, many people use them all the time for body hair removal without any side effects at all. It all depends how sensitive your skin is. There are ways to avoid any side effects, which we will discuss later. The only bad things that could happen from using an epilator is that it may nip your skin, it is highly unlikely that it will cut your skin like a shave could.

There are so many benefits of epilating that the pain aspect makes it worth while. It only hurts on your first few goes, so be persistent with it, your body will have never been as smooth and silky to touch before.

It is important that you buy a good epilator, the very best epilator that you can get today is called the Braun Silk-epil 7, the latest model, number 9 is good too.

Is epilating bad for your skin? Not at all, you can prepare your skin for epilating, warm water opens up your skins pours and will avoid in grown hairs and any skin irritation that may occur.

All Side Effects Of Using An Epilator

This shows in grown hairs on the legsThese are the same side effects of epilator on face and all over the body. Make sure you buy the best epilator for face and you will not have any problems.

  1. It’s possible that you could get in grown hairs. Hairs growing under the skin. As shown in the pic.
  2. Redness of the skin. red specs on the skin.
  3. Little red bumps on the skin.
  4. Spots or white heads.
  5. Swelling.
  6. Bruising.
  7. Possible bleeding.
  8. Sore skin, can be painful for a while.

These are the main disadvantages of using an epilator.

You should take a look at epilator pros and cons, because the advantage way outweigh the disadvantage. There are many good brands to choose from, cheap ones are by Remington, take a look through our Remington epilator reviews if these sound like the ones for you.

Advantages and disadvantages of epilation:

Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator - 36 Gold Plated Hypoallergenic TweezersNow we have been through the disadvantages of using an epilator, let’s take a look through the advantages;

  • Slow hair re-growth. Do not have to epilate as much as you would shave.
  • Hair grows back thinner. Get less painful each time you do it.
  • They are very cheap to buy and keep running.
  • Easy to use.
  • Can be used on the entire body including face and bikini line.
  • The results are amazing; very soft smooth skin for long periods.

So there are so many benefits of epilating. The results are well worth the pain, which can be off set if you use a numbing cream or spray.

All of the side effects can be avoided if you prepare your skin before you epilate.

How to Prepare Your Skin To Avoid Side Affects of Using An Epilator

How to prevent in grown hairs: Before you epilate your need to exfoliate. This is how you can exfoliate most effectively without any extra things to buy.

  • Rub the dry area down with your hand. You could also use an exfoliating glove or loofah.
  • Put warm water on the area you are going to epilate. This will open your pours.
  • You can now dry your skin, or if you have a wet and dry epilator leave it wet.
  • Then epilate. Do not press the epilator hard against the skin, hold lightly above the skin.

Do these very simple steps and you will not have any problems at all with in grown hairs when epilating.

The video includes some useful tips on how to exfoliate your skim properly;

Redness of the skin: This will happen if you press the epilator too hard against the skin. Hold the epilator lightly against the skin. Also, it is best to buy an epilator with a pivoting head, many will press the epilator hard against the skin because they are not getting good hair loss results. An epilator works best at certain angles, one with a pivoting head helps a lot here. Preparing your skin by adding warm water to it before epilation also helps.

Red bumps: The little red bumps appear when the hair is yanked hard out of the skin. You need to open up your pours to avoid this, the hairs will be released more easily and it will be less painful. Again, apply warm water to the skin to open up those pours.

Lovely smooth legs after epilating and exfoliatingSpots: Same applies here, prepare the skin well before epilating and spots will be avoided. Make sure you exfoliate well and they will not appear at all.

Swelling: An epilator can be used anywhere on the body, swelling will occur in some places and not others. It is unlikely to happen if you exfoliate well before epilating. It can occur on really long hairs, you can avoid this by trimming the hairs down with a shaver before epilating. Most good epilators these days epilate hairs as small as a grain of sand. If you epilator often, this is less likely to happen. Don’t wait for the hairs to grow really long again.

Bruising: I know some people have experienced bruising, after all you are ripping hairs from the skin. My advise is to trim the hairs down using a shaver before epilation. Tugging at long hairs will cause bruising, this can be avoided by epilating often and not letting the hairs grow back long.

Bleeding: Again this will happen from tugging away at long hairs, most people experience this in the under arm area. Shave the area down before hand, buying a good epilator helps too.

Sore skin: Simply apply a cream to the skin after epilating. You could use a numbing cream or something like cocoa butter, the choice is yours. Any cream that will soothe your skin afterwards will do the trick.

There you have it, the full list of side effects of using an epilator and how to prevent them from happening to you.

Epilator or Shaver – Which is Better?

Epilator or Shaver which is the best?

Epilator or Shaver which is the best? Not sure if you should go for epilator or shaver.

What if you could have both?

There is an epilator that comes with a shaver head, find out below.

Don’t worry, this will clear a few things up for you and make the decision for you.

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons for both and then make a conclusive decision which is better.

We are talking about comparing an electric epilator vs and electric shaver.

If you do decide to buy an epilator over a shaver you need to know which is the best epilator to buy. We highly recommend the Braun Silk-epil 7, it is awesome. This epilator even comes with a shaver head, you get the best of both world with this shaver.

The Braun 7 is the very best by a long way, but might be a little expensive for those of you just starting to use an epilator. My best advise is to take a look through or epilator reviews and decide from there.

Right, let’s take a look at epilator vs shaver, which one should you go for.

Epilator or Shaver Comparison Guide

Braun Silk-epil 5 ReviewsWe are going to use a points system to help you decide if an epilator is better than a shaver for hair removal all over the body.

Points are awarded if the hair removal device is better than the other for each question.

The one with the most points wins.

The test to prove which is better;

  1. Pain: Epilator (0) – Scores zero, it does hurt yes, but only on your first few goes. The pain does go away and there are ways to avoid pain while epilating, like using a numbing spray. Shaver (1) – Does not hurt at all, unless you cut yourself, which is unlikely these days with modern electric shavers.
  2. Speed: Epilator (1) it is a lot slower using an epilator, it can take around 40 minutes to do both legs, however you do not have to epilate very often, the hairs grows back slowly, you will only have to epilate once every three weeks. Shaver (0) – It’s faster than epilating in the short term, but the hair grows back faster. Some women have to shave their legs every other day, using an epilator will save you time in the long run.
  3. Permormance: Epilator (1) – This is the most important question. Using an epilator will leave the area smoother than ever, and when the hairs grow back they become finer. Shaver (0) – When hairs grow back after using a shaver they leave little black dots on the skin, which can be quite unsightly and leave you with rough to the touch skin.
  4. Sensitivity: Epilator (1) – If you buy the right epilator (not a cheap one) it will be incredibly good on sensitive skin. To epilate you hold the epilator lightly against the skin, it is very rare that you will suffer any skin irritation if you exfoliate before use. Shaver (0) – You have to push down agianst the skin with a shaver, this can affective people with sensitive skin and may cause redness, bumps and even a rash. Not saying that you will not experience this with an epilator, but it is less likely.
  5. Body: Epilator (1) – An epilator can be used all over your body, even on your upper lip and bikini area with really good results. An epilator pulls the hair from the root and will not leave stubble. Shaver (0) – You could use an electric shaver on your top lip, however you will have stubble there after a few days, this would not be the case with an epilator. An epilator will leave the area smoother for longer.
  6. Cleaning: Epilator (1) –  Very easy to keep clean, just brush the hairs out of the tweezers after use. Shaver (0) – They are easy to clean too, however they are a little more hassle than an epilator.
  7. Price: Epilator (1) – They are very cheap to purchase and there is nothing extra to buy afterwards when you have one. Unless you get one that requires batteries, which is a bad idea. Most of them are rechargeable. Shaver (0) – They are cheap to buy too, however you will have to buy extra foils every now and again.

Epilator or Shaver – Results

Pretty conclusive results here;

  • Epilator – 6 points
  • Shaver – 1 point

This video also concludes that epilating is better than shaving. Take a look;

The epilator wins hands down in our little test. The only problem might be the pain aspect of epilating, however there are many ways to overcome this. I would choose an epilator every time over a shaver. Take a look at our “Does An Epilator Hurt?” posts for ideas on how to reduce epilator pain.

The Braun Silk-epil 7: Is The Best Epilator For FaceLike I say, the Braun Silk-epil 7 is a great epilator, it is also the best epilator for face because it come with specific attachments for use on sensitive areas of the body, including your vagina.

There are many epilator brands to choose from, to help you decide which one is for you we recommend you take a look at our Braun epilator reviews.

Another top brand in the mid price range for epilators is Emjoi, they are slightly cheaper than Braun models. Take a look at our Emjoi epilator reviews for more information on this brand.

At the other end of the scale we have the Remington brand, these epilators are really cheap and come highly rated. To help you decide more about this brand take a look at our Remington epilator reviews section.

Which Epilator To Buy

If it is your first epilator you will not want to spend too much. You might want to see how it feels on your skin and if you can take the pain, really it is not that bad at all.

The Philips HP6401 epilator is around $30, and is a great epilator for beginners to use.

The best mid range epilator is the Emjoi AP-18 epilator, it is very cheap and has the most tweezers that any epilator has, making it very fast indeed.

So, the best epilator ever is the Braun Silk-epil 7, if you have the budget for one then it is definitely the one to buy.

Now you know, epilator or shaver? Most definitely epilator, this is the best method of hair removal hands down.

Use An Epilator For Bikini Line

Use An Epilator For Bikini Line effective hair removal on vagina

Use An Epilator For Bikini Line effective hair removal on vaginaIt is very much so possible to use an epilator for bikini line hair removal.

In fact you can use an epilator all over your vagina. You can use it for a quick touch up or even to completely remove every hair on there.

The key is to buy an epilator that comes with sensitivity attachments for use on delicate areas like your bikini line.

There is nothing more effective than using an epilator for hair removal on the bikini line. Waxing is good too, but more expensive and some say a lot more painful.

By far the best epilator for the job is the Braun Silk-epil 7. The latest model (Braun) is also highly rated too. This is the best epilator for Brazilian.

Forget waxing, forget shaving, using an epilator for bikini line hair removal is the way to go.

Don’t be put off by all the reviews reflecting at how much it hurts, this is only the case on your first few goes. The hair grows back thinner after every use and becomes so much easier.

Using an epilator removes the hair from the root, therefore you will stay silky smooth down below for months instead of weeks like you can with shaving.

Top Tip: Buy an epilator for use on bikini line with shaver head included. For best results using an epilator on pubic hair trim the hairs down first with a shaver. The Braun Silk-epil 7 comes with a shaver attachment.

Braun Silk epil 7 has two speeds. Slow is best for use on the faceWhat makes a good epilator for use on your bikini line;

  • Must have sensitive area cap
  • Must have a pivoting head
  • Shaver head
  • Must have slow speed option
  • Massage Balls
  • Must be able to use wet
  • Easier if cordless

The sensitive area cap is essential, it reduces the number of tweezers exposed. This makes it easier to shape the hairs how you want them and also is a lot less painful.

The most important features to use an epilator for bikini line is a pivoting head. It is important that the head moves to the contours of your body to remove the hairs effectively. In tricky area, like the bikini line (where it is curved) the only way you will remove the hairs is by having a pivoting head. If you do not have this hairs will cut off and not be pulled, which can lead to ingrown hairs.

Like I said earlier, shaving your pubes before epilating helps with the hair removal. A good epilator like the Braun 7 can remove hairs as small as a grain of sand. The shorter the hairs, the less painful it will be, it will stop long hairs getting caught up in the head.

A two speed epilator helps with sensitive areas like your bikini line. It is so much less painful if you can slow the motor down on sensitive areas.

The Braun 7 has massage balls built in, as you epilate this soothes the skin preventing skin irritation. This will stop you having red blotchy skin after you epilate down below.

If you get a wet and dry epilator it helps so much with the pain. Using warm water on the skin before epilating will open up the pours, the hairs will pull out easier. As you would expect, a cordless epilator will be easier to manouvre around your curvy parts down below if there is no cord in the way.

Take a look at a bikini line hair removal demostration using an epilator in the video below;

Does An Epilator Really Work?

Does An Epilator Really Work? It certainly does yes

Does An Epilator Really Work? It certainly does yesMany people want to know; does an epilator really work?

It certainly does, an epilator can remove any kind of hair from anywhere on the body.

The main issue is which epilator should you buy? Some are much better than others and work much more effectively at removing hair from anywhere on the body.

An epilator is a series of tweezers, electric tweezers that rip the hair from the root.

Removing the hair from the root means that hair regrowth is slower, it grows back finer each time you epilate.

Many people say epilating is painful on their first use, but because the hair grows back finer each time it gets easier and less painful each and every time you use it.

An epilator really does work, the very best epilator to buy is any from the Braun range. We recommend the Braun Silk-epil 7, it has received amazing reviews and having used it ourselves we know how good it is.

Let’s take a look at this epilator in action to prove that it really does work;

So, does an epilator really work? Yes, they sure do. Even the cheaper versions work really well too.

The reason we recommend the Braun 7 is because it can be used all over your body, including your face, underarms, legs and even your bikini area.

Does An Epilator Really Work? – By People That Use Them

  1. The Braun Silk-epil 7: Is The Best Epilator For FaceUsing an epilator is so much better than shaving, it really does work, although it is quite painful on the first few goes. I was having to shave my legs every other day, which is why I switched to epilating. Now I only epilate once every three weeks, the epilator works all over my body. My best advise is to buy an epilator with a pivoting head, getting the perfect angle is essential for effective plucking. Many cheap epilators do not offer this, the Braun 7 does, it is just brilliant to use.
  2. The results of using an epilator as oppose to shaving is so much different. A shaver leaves me with little black dots on my legs after a few days, using an epilator does not. The epilator takes my hairs completely from the root and hair re-growth is very slow. I can use my epilator all over my body, I read many epilator reviews before buying so that I got the perfect model for me personally.
  3. I had been waxing all my life and was getting sick of paying the high rates, I needed a cheap alternative to waxing. I did some research and found that using an epilator does work at quick hair removal for slow re-growth. It took me 30 minutes to epilate both legs, they are as smooth as waxing, and a lot smoother than shaving.
  4. I was scared to get an epilator, almost put off with all the reviews saying how painful it is. I will be honest with you here, it hurt a lot the first 5 minutes that I used it, after that, when I got used to the pain I was okay with it. Using an epilator for hair loss is so much more effective than shaving, my legs now feel silky smooth for weeks instead of days.
  5. I have been using an epilator for very nearly 20 years, I would not have been doing that if they did not work. My top tip would be to buy an epilator with a little light built into it, makes it so much easier at finding those finer hairs. I also like a cordless epilator, but that’s just me.

Where Will An Epilator Work?

The Braun Silk-epil 7 can be used wet or dryAn epilator will work all over the body. You can buy an epilator just for use on your face, or you can get them with attachments that can be used all over your body.

We also recommend the Braun Silk-epil 7 as the best epilator for face and pretty much everywhere actually.

Where can you use an epilator;

  • Face (anywhere including jawline, upper lip, neck and even eye brows)
  • Underarms
  • Arms
  • Bikini line (all over vagina)
  • Legs
  • Feet

yes, you can use an epilator anywhere on the body. Some ladies consider them a god send simply because they work so well at removing facial hair.

Do not be put off by the pain factor, there are so many ways round this. You can use a numbing cream or spray, take a pain killer tablet or even simply numb the area with ice before hand.

What Is An Epilator

What Is An Epilator - electric tweezers

What Is An Epilator - electric tweezersSo What Is An Epilator And What Are The Pros And Cons Of Using One?

Simply, an epilator is a hair removal device, which is a little different to shaving and very much so like waxing.

An epilator is a large set of tweezers, the tweezers pull the hair from the root. This means the hair grows back finer every time you use one.

A shaver cuts hair, an epilator pulls the hair from the root. Therefore, using an epilator can be rather painful, a little like waxing.

If you have tried pulling any hairs from the root out of your skin you can imagine how painful it is. Some epilators have 70 tweezers, so image pulling many hairs from the skin all at the same time.

There are lots of advantages to using an epilator, and there is the painful disadvantage too.

If you choose to shave your legs you will have to do it every other day. If you choose to epilate you will have to do it just once a month, although it can take up to 40 minutes to do both legs.

Take a look at this video to see what an epilator is. See and epilator in action:

What Is An Epilator: Pros and Cons

What is an epilator? 40 to 80 tiny tweezers pulling hair from the root of your skin.

Now let’s take a look at the pros and cons of using an epilator.

Pros:

  • Hair grows back finer every time you use it
  • Hair re-growth is slow – can stay smooth for up to 1 month
  • Can be used all over your body – including your face – does not leave stubble like shaving
  • Leaves all areas of body very smooth – no stubble at all
  • Can be done wet or dry – in or out of the bath or shower
  • Not messy at all
  • Hair does not grow back as stubble – comes back as small fine fluffy hairs
  • Works great on any hair type – thin or thick coarse hair
  • Doesn’t leave the unsightly little dark stubble dots on your legs like shaving does
  • Very easy to do – just pull the skin taught for best results

Cons:

  • Some people find it painful – usually just the first time though
  • Takes a bit longer to do than shaving
  • Some epilators are rather noisy
  • Can irritate sensitive skin on first use – there are ways around this
  • In grown hairs can be a problem – exfoliate to avoid this

Don’t be put off by the cons section, many of them can be overcome. Like the pain part for example, you can buy a numbing cream or spray to help with this, or even take a pain killer tablet before you use it.

It does take a bit longer to do than shaving, however the results are worth it and they last a lot longer. In the long term you are actually saving time.

Most epilators are noisy, there are ones that are quieter, like the Braun Silk-epil 7.

You can take a warm bath before epilating to avoid skin irritation, exfoliation helps too. If you get a good epilator you will not suffer in grown hairs. Getting an epilator with a pivoting head will stop ingrown hairs.

Does An Epilator Hurt? – Customer Reactions

We looked through many customer reviews on all kinds of epilators to put togther a knowledge base for you regarding this fact of epilator pain.

So does an epilator hurt? Here is the honest truth from real epilator users:

  1. Braun Silk epil 7 has two speeds. Slow is best for use on the faceOn my first use it hurt like hell, this is no exaggeration. The next time that I use the epilator it did not hurt one bit. I have really sensitive skin too, so my advise is to keep going with it even if it hurts on your first try.
  2. It hurt me for the first 5 minutes that I used it, then after that I was okay. It was like littles needles poking into my skin at first. It does not bother me at all now, it certainly beats waxing. I have been using an epilator for 3 years now, the hairs grow back less and less each time, it gets easier and easier. I would say persistence is the key here. Many people that say that they hurt will have only used them once and given up, the second time you use it hurts a lot less.
  3. In all honesty using an epilator does not hurt me at all, this is probably because I waxed before hand. Using an epilator is so much less painful than waxing and so much more effective too. You will never go back to waxing or shaving after using an epilator.
  4. It hurts me every time that I use it, but the results are worth it. It’s just a shame that it takes me so long to do both my legs, about 30 to 40 minutes. It does hurt less the more you use it.
  5. The first time you use it you are going to hurt a bit, that’s just the way it is because you are not used to it yet. After your first try you will wonder what all the fuss was about. It will certainly be different for everyone, best advise is to buy a cheap model, give it a go, if it for you then get a top model, if it isn’t then it’s not a great deal lost.
  6. I like the Braun models because they are the best epilator for face, which is a very sensitive area, so if they work less painful on the face they are good for the rest of the body too.
  7. I have used many epilators over the years, it hurts a little but you get used to the pain. When I first started I took a pain killer tablet, now I don’t bother. You should take a look at the Emjoi epilator reviews because one model has 72 tweezers and is very fast indeed.

The battery life is good and it charges very fast. The little light is a great idea, especially when I use it on my top lip, I never miss any tiny hairs now, I feel so much more confident in myself. I use it all over my body and consider it to be money very well spent. It is a little more expensive than the others that I have had, but worth the extra spend for sure.
  2. I have absolutely no complaints at all with this epilator, it is amazing. I have had a few over the years and this one is the best. It works well, looks nice and is easy to use. I wanted one that I could take with me on holiday, this one was perfect. It is small, light and compact and even comes with a free carry travel bag.
  3. I have had this epilator for over 2 years now and it is still working strong, the most is just as poweful as the first day that I got it even after many many charges. I love the fact that I can use it in the shower and the bath, saves me loads of time. I just rub my legs down first with some soap and then away I go. I use it all over my body, and I mean every where.
  4. I am a lady in my 70s and find this epilator very easy to use, it has been a god sent to me and wonder why I did not get one earlier in life. I got this one primarily for use on my face, I have peach fuzz on my upper lip and chin. The pivoting head makes it a breeze to remove the hairs from my face. I was a little concerned with all the reviews stating how painful it is to use, but don’t be worried by it, I don’t think it hurts that much at all. All in all a very good buy.
  5. I had the Braun Silk-epil 5 and just had to get the number 7 model when it came out. I am so glad that I got it, I can now use it in the shower, this makes it very easy to clean too. I have to say that it is rather expensive compared to others out there, however it is totally worth the money. The little massage balls make it less painful than others and the pivoting head lets me get into places that others just would not work on. The small light comes on by itself when you start using it, this really helps me find those fine hairs that I have. If you are in two minds don’t be, just get it. More Reviews
